Listening riddles,
speaking lies
passing soldiers,
passing lives
saving nickels,
but wasting dimes
is this the way the world works?

Person cries out
no one hears,
world goes deaf
and then they die,
sound of sorrow for a day
then we don't learn,
and stay away.

Flames licking
at blue sky,
world crashing
but we ponder why,
never learning
from the past,
humanity's follies.

Saving nickels
wasting dimes,
saving one life
but wasting nine,
no one wants to
learn anymore,
we are ignorant
forever more...

Small lights
pass us by,
old as time
but for a day,
we are just
like fireflies,
here one second
and gone the next,
no more...

We just don't learn.
